In the town of Fall Creek, our humble beginnings took root in 1978 under the original name of Greener Grass Systems. We started as a modest but promising company, specializing in irrigation and limited lawn fertilization programs. In 1984 Wayne and Julie Bollinger saw potential in this small venture and decided to take the helm. With just about 175 customers split between lawn care and sprinkler systems, we embarked on a journey that would redefine the landscape of the local industry.

By 1985, the fruits of our labor began to show as Greener Grass Systems tripled in size, necessitating a move to the bustling west side of Eau Claire. Operating from a back bedroom, their vision for growth was clear and determined. The year 1989 marked another milestone with a move to a new location on S. Joles Parkway in Lake Hallie, setting a permanent base for what was quickly becoming a cornerstone of the community.

The 1990s saw a flurry of activity and expansion for our company. Not only did we add full-time mowing and tree and shrub care to our growing list of services, but from 1992 to 2006, we expanded our reach through organic growth and small acquisitions. This period solidified our presence in the area and expanded our geographic footprint significantly.

The turn of the millennium brought with it more opportunities and challenges. In 2008, we made our largest business expansion yet, purchasing The Greenskeepers in River Falls, WI. This was quickly followed by the acquisition of Emerald Acres in 2009, further expanding our customer base to Rice Lake, WI. However, 2009 also brought unforeseen challenges when our headquarters on S. Joles Parkway was destroyed in a fire on September 11th. We swiftly moved forward with plans for a new land acquisition and the construction of a new retail and office complex, which was completed in 2010.

The next decade was marked by significant developments, including Nathan Bollinger joining the company. As Wayne and Julie’s eldest son and a graduate of UW-Eau Claire, he represented the next generation of leadership. In 2014, we began a rebrand of all regional operations, culminating in a new, unified brand identity as Green Oasis by 2016.

Awards and accolades began to pour in as the community recognized our contributions and excellence. In 2015, we received the Small Business of the Year award from the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce, and a Community Stewardship Award from the National Association of Landscape Professionals. More awards followed, including recognition in Volume One’s Readers Poll as one of the best in the Chippewa Valley across various service categories. In 2017, landscape designer Ben Graf won an MNLA award for landscape design.

By 2024, with over 750,000 services and 5,000 projects completed, we had grown significantly. With Wayne retiring and taking a new role and Nathan stepping up as CEO, the legacy of family leadership and commitment to excellence continues to drive Green Oasis forward. Our journey from a small rented farmhouse to a renowned industry leader is not just a story of business growth, but a testament to the power of vision, family, and community commitment. This legacy, cultivated over four decades, promises to keep Green Oasis at the forefront of the landscaping industry for years to come.
